Who are the South Jersey Derby Girls?
Doin’ Derby Jersey-Style
Formed in March 2007, by two Mullica Hill sisters, South Jersey Derby has
grown from only a handful of girls skating at local parks to more than 40
hard-working, ass-kickin, Jersey girls!
An overwhelming interest led
the league in October 2007 to open its membership to include men, and we
haven't looked back since. Our awesome male skaters and big brothers, the
South Jersey Derby Deviants, are led by team Captain, That Kid Kenny.
Since we are co-ed, we are able to play four styles of games:
* Women's
* Men's
* Co-ed; and
* Old School Style (rotating periods of men & women just like the original
game of Roller Derby)
We are members of the Old
School Derby Association (OSDA) -- but currently skate by OSDA, WFTDA or No
Rules.
Both our men's and women's travel teams, compete up and down the East Coast,
and at our home rinks the Deptford Skating Center in Westville, and the
Wildwood Convention Center in Wildwood, NJ.
SJD is quickly gaining a repetition for our hard-hitting blockers, and
fast-dodging jammers. Our game is a fast-paced, no theatrics wallop.
Derby Obsessed?
Want a derby girl in your lap? Well, you just never know when a derby girl
might slam an opponent right into a row of chairs.
We play roller derby on a flat-track surface, thereby allowing our fans to
become part of the action.
