South Jersey Derby defeats Richmond Derby Demons
40-point spread propels league into its 3rd season

March 14, 2009 (Richmond, VA) -- What a season opener it was! South Jersey Derby traveled four hours to handily defeat the Richmond Derby Demons, 108-68.

After narrowly loosing to RDD last year, the league was determined to recapture their OSDA ranking.

Led by Captains, Mos Deathly and Billy Rae Siren, SJD hosted a 14-person squad made of the league's All-Stars, as well as, four rookie skaters, Acid Reign, Neurotic Nightingale, Miss Phat Booty and The Beast of Burton.

"You wouldn't have known they were rookies by watching them, though," said league President, Mos Deathly. "Ms. Booty formed an impenetrable wall with that 39-inch booty, and Neurotic Nightingale's endurance showed she was fully capable of jamming in the fourth quarter."

Both leagues demonstrated immeasurable amounts of sportsmanship and competitiveness throughout the game, and showed area fans to a typical-OSDA romp, full of leg whips, wall breaking and tri-blocks.

"I always love playing Richmond," said Billy Rae. "They are tough, really fine skaters, and great people!"

This co-ed game also hosted several guest skaters from the VA Renegades, and the Hell City (NJ) Hooligans.

Jamming for SJD were Mos Deathly, Billy Rae Siren, That Kid Kenny, BreakHer Baker, Wags (HCH), Lady and the Trample, and Red Ranger (HCH).

Lady had an amazing day jamming, astonishing the audience with her signature drop and spring move, while giving several of RDD's male skaters a run for their money. "We all worked so well as a team and kicked some major ass," she added.

Mos Deathly received some top-notch double assists from her teammates, BreakHer Baker and Pounder Faye Sin to easily advance in her jams. BreakHer Baker came in with the most assists for the game.

That Kid Kenny was benched with a slight knee injury in the first quarter, but returned in the second; and used his uber-competiveness to widen the spread to 20 points.

Billy Rae ended the game with a full-speed leg whip to BreakHer Baker.

Richmond hosted the visiting league to an amazing after party, with local band Nat King Kong, and an all-night lock in at the Roller Dome. Watch the Victory Party Video!
