Why We Love the Sport! My First Jam...

Crouched at the line, adrenaline pumping, senses heightened.  I hear the hum of the crowd, some music jamming in the background.  I see where those Jammers are. 

I can't take it, I'm too psyched! Let's go already!!  FINALLY!!  That whistle blows!!  Off we go! Wow!  I'm in a jam!!  I know what to do, now I just need to follow it through. 

Look to the back, look to my left, look to my right, and don't forget that derby girl that's out of my sight!  Yeah, there she is, that sneaky one.  This jam is far from done.  Just remember to block with all of my might, somebody's going down tonight! 

Whoops, somebody just sent me for a twirl.  As I steady myself, I think, "stay low & wide, Go!  Go!, don't fall back, stay in that pack!" "we have to get her out of the pack."  "Watch that pivot too, or he'll get away from you!"  Watch out, somebody's down, I just gotta leap around.  

From the corner of my eye I see a spark, it's our Jammer making her way through.  That star on her helmet sure is bright, moving as fast as a falling star of night. 

SJDG's are definitely gonna win tonight!!  Here comes our Jammer now, fast and low. Man, look at her go!  Look! She's right next to you!  Give her a push!  She's now the lead Jammer!  She weaved right through that pack, don't worry girl, we got your back!! 

Now I gotta move, I'm about to be hit.  Block that chick!  Damn!  She's still standing, block her again!  A stumble and down she goes.  We're still moving fast, gotta slow it down and help our Jammer get past.  

SJDGs are racking up those points as our Jammer weaves through.  The jam is called off by a repeated smack of the hips.  There's no way you can wipe that smile off of our lips!!  Didn't you know, we just beat you!!  I just take a deep breath and get ready for Jam 2!!
