Local Roller Derby Holds Flash Mob Games throughout South Jersey

South Jersey Derby Girls Host Month of Events in Honor of feature film, Whip-It

DEPTFORD, NJ -- South Jersey Derby Girls, a roller derby league featuring fierce local women will be bringing fast skating, hip checks and lots of adrenaline to South Jersey throughout October in honor of Drew Barrymore's new roller derby film, Whip It, in theaters Oct. 2nd.

 

The South Jersey Derby Girls will be hosting a full month of activities to celebrate the film, including premiere parties, exhibition games, meet-and-greets, and then concluding the month with tryouts for the league's 2010 season, Wednesday, Oct. 28th.

Formed in 2007, SJDG is made up of more than 40 local men and women, and competes throughout the nation in this classic sport.

The SJDG will be out in full force over the entire premier weekend, at various area movie theaters. Interested parties can come out and meet the girls, as well as register for tryouts at the following locations and times:

As part of these special events, SJDG will also be holding "flash mob" derby games at select times and area locations throughout the month.

Part of the Old School Derby Association (OSDA), SJDG is one of the largest leagues in New Jersey and has quickly gained a reputation for hard-hitting blockers, and fast-dodging jammers. Their game is a fast-paced, no theatrics wallop.
