How did you choose your derby name & number?

Choosing my name was very easy i am Andy Warhol fan. I have prints of a lot of his art in my home and even tattooed on me.

 

What was your biggest hurdle as a rookie?

My biggest hurdle was jumping the cones and learning each position and the rules.

What does being a South Jersey Derby member mean to you?

It means a lot to me. I get to be a part of a growing league with lots of amazing athletes. I respect anyone who plays this sport it take a lot of dedication and hard work. Im so grateful for the men and women who took the time to show and teach me the skills i have today. I get to now help with the training wheels program and i love it. i get to meet the new players first and help them feel comfortable and a part of. There where players who helped me in training wheels and they were my security in derby and i now get to be that familiar face that makes new players feel secure and comfortable. I care a lot about people placed in my life. The friends I've made since starting derby hold a big place in my heart. I try to express that to them as often as I can.  I've gained friends that have cried on my shoulder told their biggest secrets to me and rely on me to support them on and off the track and they do the same for me.That what being a part of south jersey means to me. we aren't just  a team we are a family!

What would you recommend for a new rookie joining the league?

Take a big hit.  I played  in my first game a week after i passed my test. it was an A/B game and i was the only person from my class playing. I got out there and played with all my heart. I took this big hit from this awesome A team player. She hit me so hard I swore my brain was shaking in my head. I got up and skated as fast as I could and caught up with her and landed a hit on her. It wasn't hard but it was a hit. After the game she told me that it was awesome that I wasn't scared and I hit her back. That really boosted my confidence. Never give up. You may fall a million times trying to learn a skill but its ok eventually you will get it. When I started derby I asked lots if questions which helped me learn the rules and how to play the game. By not being scared I really got to know a lot of the skaters and have built such awesome friendships with them.​

 

What is your derby goal?

My person goal is to skate backwards better on the banked track. ( it freaks me out) and drag block better on flat track. My team goal is to stay positive encourage my team mates and continue to help where I can.

 

Any notes you'd like to share?

I want to thank all the veteran skaters who have been so kind since I've started. I'd also like to thank Krista (Puma) for being at my first ever practice and giving me a warm welcome and Sherri (Midgenight  Monster) and Liz (Wreck Liz) for being great training wheels coaches and Stef (Mary Kill) for being my derby mistress (lol)​​

 

​What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have a terrible tattoo of a cat I got In a strangers basement.
