How did you choose your derby name & number?

I wanted to create a funny twist on my Armenian heritage.

 

What led you to roller derby?
I've always loved roller skating as a little kid. As an adult I found the sport to be adventurous and daring. I never thought I'd have the guts to do it until I actually did one day!

 

What was your biggest hurdle when you first started derby?

Keeping up with the pack, my legs not being strong enough to withstand a pace line.

What does being a South Jersey Roller Derby member mean to you?

Being a South Jersey Derby member is being part of a second family and knowing you always have constant support from your teammates. It's also a place I can go and call my no judgment zone while I am doing something healthy and productive with my time.

What would you recommend for a new rookie joining the league?

Don't be scared and go at your own pace. No one is here to judge you, we are only here to help you and develop you.

 

What is your derby goal?

Become a star jammer.

 

Any notes you'd like to share?

I still get a little nervous before every game, even if it's just a mixer.

 

​What is a fun fact about yourself?

I'm actually a mermaid.
