Westville parade kicks off week-long centennial party

WESTVILLE --€” Saturday marked the beginning of Westville's centennial celebration, as residents and borough officials lined up along Broadway for an opening parade through town.

The parade route followed Broadway heading north from Harvard Avenue, and then back south on Delsea Drive, ending at the athletic fields near Klinger Avenue and Almonesson Road, where residents enjoyed amusement rides, games and music.

The borough has planned a week of activities around Westville in celebration of its 100th anniversary, including historic tours, fireworks and a downtown block party.

While the history of Westville dates back to before the 1800s, the borough wasn't incorporated until April 7, 1914, when the state Legislature formally approved its boundaries.
